There is a place
with a cup of hot tea,
and a piece of shortbread,
with a iron-posted bed
with thick blankets
and a quilt,
with maybe a cat.
It is a place filled with love
and welcome.
That place is waiting for you.

About Elizabeth’s creation:

I started working on Elizabeth at the same time I was preparing an Advent sermon about Elizabeth.  I thought of what an amazing presence she must have been for Mary, how comforting to have a kinswomen who offered her home, acceptance and love.  I thought about those aunties in my own life, adult women who at different times in my life offered me home, acceptance, and love.  There was usually a quilt involved, and a nice hot cup of tea.
